My view on present education
A good student must be very hard-working in the past, for a student was assessed according to his marks regardless of health, personalities and abilities. He was encouraged or even forced to focus on nothing but study.
However, with the development of society, the assessment of a good student has also changed. Schools are beginning to lay more emphasis on students’ overall qualities. Students are encouraged to be involved in sports, music, art, etc. As a result, students can develop in all-round way by taking an active part in after-school activities and they are more cheerful and confident than ever.
In spite of this, I find there are several problems existing in today’s education. For example, education at present is still paying too much attention to grades as a result of the college entrance examination. What’s more, schools sometimes adopt traditional teaching methods, which only teach students what to learn rather than how to learn.
As far as I’m concerned, there is great need for policy-makers to take action immediately. First, there is much room for the current education system to be improved. Students should be allowed to spend more time on what they are interested in, and thus they can broaden their horizon and fully develop their personalities. In the future, they are sure to adapt to the outside world better. Second, educators should concentrate on cultivating students’ learning ability. Only in this way can they contribute a lot in this fast-developing society. Last but not least, students know little about what to do when some unexpected accidents happen. From the sad scenes of WenChuan earthquake, not only have we learnt the love between human beings, but educators should also consider promoting students’ awareness of self-protection. Fortunately, some schools are beginning to train students’ surviving skills.
I know our government has been reforming the education system to cultivate students. With their determination and efforts, we have every reason to believe that education will be much better in the coming years.
簡(jiǎn)評(píng): Education reform has long been a hot issue. Educators have been trying to introduce some new ideas into our present system. However, inevitably some problems have arisen at the same time. The writer expresses his opinions in an organized way after considerate thinking.
